You have a drain that is plugged in your house so before calling a Flagstaff plumber lets try some simple home remedies which can save you money.
1. The first step is to get most of the water out of the backed up sink or tub that you possibly can. Put one cup of baking soda into the drain and add lots of very hot water (just down from a boil). If the drain is still clogged then repeat until it becomes unplugged. This is a cheap plumbing procedure!
2. Again remove all the water that is possible. If the drain lets the water go down slowly then wait till it has gone down completely. Now grab that baking soda again and add one cup to the drain…a little more won’t hurt. Now add an ample about of vinegar try to put a stopper or a plug in the drain and let it set for half an hour. If this doesn’t work the first time double the baking soda and vinegar and let it set one hour. If it drains down then pour several gallons of very hot water down the drain to get it nice and clean.
If this does not work add the backing soda and vinegar and let it set over night. Many times this works. If it does then be sure to flush with hot water. If you would like more information try Unclog the Clogged
If none of the above then you can remove the Pee trap. That’s the “U” shaped pipe. In most modern plumbing they are easy to remove. Remember if there is water in the sink basin to put a stopper in to keeping all the water from running out when you remove the pee trap. Also its a good idea to have a few bucket to let the water drain into. If you do decide you need to hire a plumber then give us a call.
If you decide to use a chimerical drain cleaner be sure to follow all the safety instructions on the container. These are strong chemicals and are not to be taken lightly.
